The Beat Goes On Student Impact Campaign
As part of PIK’s structure, every project we choose to engage in must also have a clearly defined, mission-oriented corresponding impact campaign. The Beat Goes On covers seven Drum Major Coalition-supported grassroots organizations that are at the frontlines of our democracy. They are devoted advocates for voting rights, racial justice, bodily autonomy, and more.
The impact campaign will result in seven short films and a library of marketing content that intends to help amplify the work of these organizations, highlight urgent political issues ahead of the 2024 elections, and generate voter momentum in seven pivotal states.

The Program
After reviewing a large and diverse pool of applicants, Partners in Kind selected 27 film students to embed with seven organizations in seven different states ahead of the 2024 election. Each student received a monetary grant for their engagement with the program.
Hailing from 11 different states and representing dozens of colleges and universities, the students embedded with these organizations and captured impactful content. These videos were edited to support the organizations and will also be available for use as b-roll in a broader documentary.
This initiative not only aims to shed light on the critical work these groups are doing but also provides a unique platform for emerging filmmakers to harness their storytelling skills for social activism while being supported by award-winning producers, filmmakers, and editors.
